At other times the rates could be negotiable but it is extremely difficult that the rates will come down during the New Years’ unless the occupancy is less. In Rambagh Palace, the average rates for a suite is between Rs 25,000 and Rs 70,000. Most hotels in Rajasthan are already fully occupied. “We will be hitting 100% occupancy on December 31. We work months in advance for the day and are happy to see people shake off all thoughts of economic slowdown and decide to celebrate in the way they desire,” said Varun Mehrotra, director of sales and marketing, Fairmont Jaipur in the same news report.

The hotels which have some rooms left, also increase the tariff rates to cash on the opportunity. Although Rajasthan boasts of such luxurious properties, the rates in other states are comparatively lower. A lot of people hit the beach and prefer resort locations to spend their New year.
